2012 Topps is live???

Well, according to this guy, 2012 Topps is live! However, I do not believe this is true. I also don't believe that Ebay should allow sellers to sell this type of item:

2012 Topps Baseball Auto/Relic/Coin/Patch/Dual/Cut/Pin Hot Pack - IN HAND!

I once read an article from Beckett, who tried to defend these types of auctions, that dealers who bust several boxes will know that after opening 23 packs and not getting a hit out of a 24 pack box that the last pack is guaranteed to contain a hit. This isn't always true. There have been several factory sealed boxes I have opened over the years that did not contain a hit.

EBay needs to ban these types of auctions in which most sellers already know what is inside these types of packs. Don't you think?

  1. I know there have been videos that have surfaced of how to search packs to find these said inserts/autos and such. How do we know this guy hasn't searched up packs? How easy is it to reseal foil packs?

I'm not defending this guy - just curious.

    1. I was a little too hasty with my post and have toned it down. I am just sick and tired seeing these types of auctions on EBay. Pack searching hurts the hobby and could be stopped by the card companies and EBay but they won't stop it because they have no reason to. They are getting paid and have no incentive to stop it.

  2. Craig,

I wondered why people were sending questions about my auction being linked to someone's blog and "if the pack was really resealed?" and a little searching turned up your over-opinionated and completely false claim.

So, to be blunt, your falsified claim needs to come down ASAP or you will be receiving a phone call. While you have the right to give your opinion, making a claim that someone does something fraudulent is in fact illegal and can be considered slander.

It is in fact very easy to tell if a pack contains a hit. I am a huge collector who cares about nothing more than rookies and sets. The packs that have hits are simply sold as they help make up for some of the cost.

So, to be nice. I am an honest person, as I trust you are too. But I would never make such an absurd claim about someone I knew nothing about or had never met. I trust that your opinion will change and you will decide that your ridiculous assumption will be erased.

    1. OK, I agree that I was too blunt with my post. I should not have assumed that you or anyone reseals packs without solid proof. My opinion is that most sellers of these types of packs already know what is inside them before they are mailed out. It is not a ridiculous assumption. I will edit my post. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

  3. Thank you, I appreciate that. You might be right, but I have no idea how to tell what the card is and the thought that people would open a pack and reseal it makes me sick. Hopefully that doesn't really happen.

But, yes, topps is somewhat live. I have a fellow collector who somehow seems to get everything early. I traded him a bunch of relics for half a case and we busted them yesterday. Nearly completed the set and so I will just pick up the singles from here on out. I must admit though, topps is always the most fun to bust simply because of the many variations.

Again, thank you, and let us know when you find it live!
