Today I entered my code and received one of the greatest HOF third basemen of all time. My opinion is that Brooks Robinson is the greatest but this guy is up there....
1981 Topps #540 Mike Schimdt
1981 was the year I remember most about card collecting. I was just a little kid and can remember my mom going to the grocery store and buying me packs. It took me several packs to complete that set since I did not have too many friends that collected cards -- no one to trade with! I remember the very last card I needed to complete that set -- Jim Kern. When I finally received that last card in a pack, I remember the how proud I was of completing that 726 card set! Then, I read in a magazine that Topps had an update set consisting of 132 more cards (727-858) for $12. I had to have it to continue my set so I convinced my mom to let me buy it. Also, 1981 is an important year since it is the birth year of my wife.
1981 -- a great year! Thank you to Topps for this card and letting me go back through memory lane!
